Hurricane Beryl, now a category 3, on the Saffir-Simpson scale of 5, which hit Jamaica on Wednesday, is heading towards the Cayman Islands and Mexico.Beryl's central wall "brushed" the southern coast of Jamaica, but did not make landfall there, according to the US National Hurricane Center. In its wake, Beryl has devastated the smaller islands of the eastern Caribbean and killed at least nine people. Its rapid intensification and devastating effects are consequences of climate change, in particular, warming of the oceans, experts emphasize.
