Heroic Chinese men support pregnant woman in deep floodwaters for hours until rescue arrives
Three heroic men supported a pregnant woman in deep floodwaters for three hours until rescuers arrived to save them in China.
The video was filmed in Yueyang City in Hunan Province on July 1.
As torrents of water surged through Pingjiang, a woman three to four months pregnant found herself caught in the deluge.
In a desperate bid to save her, her husband and two other men used a thin bedsheet as an improvised lifeline, anchoring it to a building's window.
Despite the raging waters, the men held onto the sheet with all their might, taking turns to support the pregnant woman above the floodwaters for three harrowing hours.
Facing hypothermia and exhaustion, the men remained resolute, drawing on extraordinary determination and unwavering belief in their mission.
Salvation came in the form of the Yueyang Blue Sky Rescue Team. Team member Liu Jun, undeterred by personal risk, leapt from a rescue boat into the treacherous waters. Swimming against the powerful current, Liu reached the group.
Realising the woman was severely hypothermic, he carefully manoeuvred her towards the boat, ensuring her safety. Teammates swiftly pulled her aboard, followed by the exhausted men.
Liu said, "I initially thought they were standing in the water, but upon jumping in, I realised it was two to three metres deep. They were not touching the bottom. Had we arrived a few minutes later, they might not have held on."
All four were safely evacuated to a secure location, where medical attention confirmed their stable condition.
