A shopper rescued an elderly woman from a terrifying escalator fall in a supermarket in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in Changsha City in Hunan Province on June 25 shows an elderly woman struggling to maintain her balance on a slippery escalator while holding an umbrella and a mobile phone, falling face-first onto the moving escalator. As she continued to roll down, the scene took a dramatic turn.

Gong Xingxing, who had just finished his grocery shopping, witnessed the accident. Without a second thought, he dropped his groceries and sprinted towards the escalator.

Gong quickly reached the woman and lifted her up, preventing what could have been a more severe outcome.

After safely helping the elderly woman to the first floor, Gong found a chair for her to rest on and calmly reassured her. He checked her for any injuries and ensured she was coherent and able to provide her home details.

Once satisfied that she was out of danger and composed, Gong quietly left the scene.

监控画面显示，一位老太太在乘坐扶梯时，由于雨天路滑且双手分别撑着伞和拿着手机，导致重心不稳摔倒。她面部着地，随着扶梯的继续运转翻滚了数圈，情况十分危急。就在这千钧一发之际，刚从菜市场买完菜出来的龚星星目睹了这一幕。没有丝毫犹豫，他立即将手中的菜丢弃，以最快的速度冲上扶梯，一把将倒地的老人紧紧抱起。
将老人安全扶到二楼后，龚星星找来一张凳子让老人坐下休息，并细心安抚老人受惊的情绪。同时，他迅速检查了老人的身体状况，确认老人并无大碍且能条理清晰地回答家里情况后，才默默离开了现场。
