A stray kitten that was trapped under a sewer was rescued in Thailand.

The feline fell through the grill cover of the manhole while looking for food and could not come out in Bangkok on July 2.

With the help of staff from the Drainage and Sewerage Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, a volunteer accessed underground through a passageway and extracted the moggy safely.

Footage shows a rescuer under the drain and taking the cat. He passed through an entrance on the side of a canal and climbed up the ladder with the cat.

A rescuer said: ‘We couldn't open the grill so we reached out to proper authorities.'

The cat was cleaned and adopted by a good Samaritan who watched the rescue operation.
