Heroic action to save orangutans in Indonesia who were trapped in the midst of floods in Kalimantan.

This is the moment of saving an orangutan trapped in a flood in West Kotawaringin district, Central Kalimantan, Sunday 7 July 2024.

In the video, a number of residents and officers can be seen evacuating a giant orangutan that was trapped by flooding in a forest not far from residential areas.

Orangutans are great apes native to the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia. Today these animals are only found in parts of Kalimantan and Sumatra, but during the Pleistocene era, they spread throughout Southeast Asia and South China.

Orangutan habitat is now very rare and almost extinct, orangutans are only found in Indonesia on the island of Kalimantan.
