Pilger, Nebraska Tornadoes - June 16, 2014

We met this supercell just as it dropped the first tornado. (The 1st clip, which is sped up to show the movement) We were coming in from the E on 51 just N of Beemer, NE. As we got closer, the first tornado grew and a new meso formed just SE of it. A rope tornado dropped and quickly grew in size and intensity. This one blasted NE and got in front of the first tornado, which then wrapped around the new one and merged.

We went back to 51 and 9 and went N on 9 to follow the cell as it drifted NNE. By this time 2 more funnels had dropped down, 1 becoming very large, very quickly. The satellite rope was pulled into the larger one.

We lost the funnels into the precip and kept up with the storm just on the S side. As the cell headed towards Sioux City, IA, it produced another wide tornado but lifted before it hit town.
