Tourists were shocked as a tree collapsed onto a building in Bali.

Footage of the chaotic scene shows the heavy banyan hardwood leaning onto the roof of the structure that housed the toilet of a temple in Indonesia.

There were hundreds of local and foreign visitors in the changing rooms when a flash flood gushed through and tilted the tree.

It happened near Tirta Empul Temple where the 82ft-high tree stood, although no one was reported hurt. Nearby, cars and roads were inundated by gushing deluge.

Tampaksiring Police Chief AKP I Putu Agus Ady Wijaya said: 'We were quite worried because there were many foreign tourists there. We immediately secured the location so that the tourists there remained safe.'

Officers are now working on relocating the fallen tree.

Indonesia and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
