A helmeted man riding an electric scooter was tragically swept away by fast-flowing floodwaters in eastern China.

Terrifying video filmed in Zibo City in Shandong Province on July 5 shows a man, seemingly a delivery rider, navigating through a flooded street, suddenly falling and plunging into the rushing currents. Despite frantic warnings from bystanders about the imminent danger, the man lost his balance in the swift current and was swiftly carried away, disappearing from view after being swept several dozen meters downstream.

Promptly alerted citizens immediately contacted the fire rescue services. Firefighters responded swiftly, though upon arrival, they did not locate the man, prompting hopes that he had managed to escape and survive the ordeal. Throughout the night, the fire department mobilised over twenty times, successfully evacuating numerous stranded individuals, with no reports of casualties.

Earlier that afternoon, local meteorological authorities issued a yellow warning alert (the third strongest level) for the rainstorm, upgrading it to an orange warning alert (the second strongest level) at 20:40 due to the escalating severity of the storm.
