July 3, 2024, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The National Education Association (NEA) the largest labor union in the United States introduced new business for their delegates to vote on which include anti Israel and antisemitic topics: Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel, to change the definition of antisemitism, an affirmation that antisemitism is not the same as anti-Zionism and to add Nakba education to curriculums. NEA Delegates represent: public school teachers and support personnel, college and university faculty and staff, retired educators and college students preparing for a career in education. Pro Palestine NEA delegates and educators and Pro Israel supporters stood outside of the convention. NEA members were taught how to participate in Pro Palestine efforts in the education system. A speaker stated that this was not a sanctioned NEA program. Pro Israel supporters chanted “Free the Hostages” and “Show Your Face”.
