North Kingstown, United States - July 02, 2024

A routine call for a brush fire turned into a daring rescue mission when Sgt. Tim Daly of the North Kingstown Police Department saved a woman trapped in a wheelchair inside her burning home. Chief of Police praised Daly's actions as "brave and heroic," captured vividly on his body-worn camera.

Responding to the emergency on Fletcher Road, Daly's footage shows him springing into action upon hearing screams from the smoke-filled house. "Someone is in the house, guys," Daly alerts his colleagues before rushing inside.

Inside, amid the chaos and explosions, Daly found the woman unable to move due to her wheelchair. Without hesitation, he carried her to safety with assistance from fellow officers who joined in the rescue effort.

Reflecting on the intense moments, Daly shared, "I had to get her out of there. If she had been further inside, it would have been a tough call." Despite the risks, Daly's decisive actions ensured the victim's safety, although she suffered minor injuries from the fire's heat.

Humbling the praise, Daly attributed his preparedness to his training and mentorship within the force. "I've been fortunate to learn from good leaders who taught us how to handle these situations," he remarked.

The woman was hospitalized but is expected to recover, thanks to Daly's swift and selfless intervention.
