China's top AI event kicks off in Shanghai

This global meeting on Artificial Intelligence has entered its 7th year. The theme for 2024 is "Governing AI for Good and for All", highlighting China's efforts at setting vital AI standards.

During the opening ceremony, Chinese Premier Li Qiang called for global innovation cooperation, promoting an inclusive environment and a coordinated governance of AI.

"I think Premier Li's speech is very visionary and compelling. He talks about the importance of innovation, AI ethics, and AI for humanity, and for improving the well-being of humankind as a whole. I think that's very important."

"Visitors to the 2024 WAIC are expected to see driverless cars, all kinds of latest robots, as well as Tesla's Optimus Gen2, and real-world applications n all different industries. Over 1500 AI-related products and systems are presented here at the expo."
