USA: Police Rescue Dog Trapped in 100-Degree Trailer in Wheat Ridge
Wheat Ridge, United States - June 22, 2024
In a heart-wrenching incident in Wheat Ridge, a dog was discovered trapped inside a trailer over the weekend, prompting a swift rescue operation by the local police.
The Wheat Ridge Police Department received a tip regarding a parked trailer that had remained stationary in a neighborhood for three days. Upon investigation, officers found a pitbull mix confined within the trailer, with concerns raised over the dog's access to water amid rising temperatures.
Using an infrared thermometer, officers measured temperatures inside the trailer ranging from 88 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit, with the dog itself registering at 100 degrees. This prompted immediate action, as temperatures inside vehicles can escalate dangerously fast, potentially causing heat-related illnesses or fatalities for pets.
With utmost care, officers accessed the trailer using a crowbar and safely retrieved the distressed dog. "We're here to help you, we don't want you to die," one officer reassured the frightened animal during the rescue.
Following the rescue, the dog was taken to the Foothills Animal Shelter for evaluation and care. The Wheat Ridge Police Department issued multiple notices to the owner, including violations for cruelty and inhumane treatment, as an investigation into the incident continues.
