A major fire occurred in North Siantar sub-district, Pematang Siantar City, North Sumatra, in the early hours of Friday 28 June 2024, at 02.00 local time. This incident killed two people, namely Suhartono (72 years) and his son Regita Frakusyah (21 years). In the video, it can be seen that fire crews are continuing to do their best to extinguish the fire. However, the flames, which continued to grow and burn, could not be contained, resulting in two houses belonging to the victim and his neighbor being completely destroyed by fire. After an hour of efforts to extinguish the fire, it was finally extinguished and officers evacuated the two victims the father and son. North Siantar sector police chief, AKP Herli Damanik, said, "the two victims in the fire incident were father and son, both bodies have been evacuated to the Dr Djasamen Saragih Regional Hospital," said Herli Damanik. It is known that at the time of the fire the victims, father and son, were fast asleep and did not know that their house was on fire. so that the father and son could not be helped and were roasted to death by the fire. It is suspected that the fire occurred due to the emergence of sparks from electric pole cables right near the victim's house. The fire then reached the electrical installation of the victim's house and spread, burning down two houses. "For the time being (the source of the fire) is from the victim's house, it is thought to be caused by an electrical short circuit," said Herli Damanik.
