Israel: Protest by ultra-Orthodox Jews in Bnei Brak against conscription into the army

A group of ultra-Orthodox Jews last Thursday (27) blocked Highway 4 in Bnei Brak in protest against their conscription into the army following a ruling by the Israeli Supreme Court. The court on Tuesday unanimously ruled to end the military exemption for the ultra-Orthodox, a measure that has polarised Israeli society especially since the war in the Gaza Strip, and which puts Benjamin Netanyahu's government on the ropes, with the risk of the Haredi parties leaving the coalition.
