Seconds of a gold mine landslide in Indonesia killed 11 people, dozens of others were buried in the search by the landslide.
this is the second the landslide occurred in the illegal gold mining area in East Tulabolo Village, East Suwawa District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo. The landslide occurred on Sunday 7 July 2024.
As a result of this incident, at least 11 died. Apart from that, there are still dozens of other people who were buried by landslides and whose whereabouts are still being sought.
From data collected by the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), a total of 11 people who died have been evacuated, and at least 40 - 50 people are still being searched for allegedly buried by landslide material mixed with mud.
Head of the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Agency Office, Heriyanto, in his video interview said that, "weather conditions are not favorable and it is still raining, which is an obstacle for the joint team in carrying out searches and landslide material is still unstable. And it is still possible to increase the number of victims because up to now there are still many families whose family members are missing," said Heriyanto when interviewed on Monday 8 July 2024.
Meanwhile, at least 230 joint personnel from various agencies were deployed to search operations for landslide victims at traditional gold mining sites in Bonebolango Regency, Gorontalo, Indonesia.
