A manhole exploded, sending a boy into the air after he threw a firecracker inside in southwestern China.

The terrifying CCTV footage was filmed in Menghai County in Yunnan Province on July 5.

A boy threw a firecracker into a sewer manhole. In a sudden and intense explosion, the accumulated methane inside the manhole ignited, propelling the heavy cover several meters into the air and causing a geyser of sewage and sludge to erupt skywards.

Fortunately, the child managed to escape with minor injuries.

监控画面显示，7月5日下午，在勐海县某小区门口，一名小男孩蹲在一家店铺前的井盖旁，手中拿着鞭炮。他点燃了鞭炮并投入井盖内，不料，井内积聚的沼气遇火瞬间爆炸，井盖被强大的冲击力炸飞数米，污水与污泥喷涌而出，直冲天际。小男孩也被这股突如其来的力量抛向空中，随后重重摔落在地。幸运的是，他迅速起身逃离了现场，身体并未受到严重伤害，但受到了不小的惊吓。

事故发生后，小区所在的勐海龙驰物业迅速介入处理。物业组织保洁部门对现场进行了紧急清理，确保污水和污泥得到妥善处理。同时，物业还通过公告等方式提醒居民特别是孩子们注意暑期安全，避免类似危险行为的发生。
