Lorry filled with boulders used to plug breached dam in China
This is a moment local officials drove lorries filled with dirt and soil to block a breached dam.
The incident occurred in Luojiang Town, near the city of Miluo, Hunan Province, China, on July 2.
The video reveals how floodwater continued to pour out of the dam breach after it occurred until a blue lorry with dirt and stones on it was positioned next to the dam before a bulldozer then shoved the lorry into the dam's opening.
The local authority said that it was struggling to cope with the extent of the damage caused by the floodwaters and was determined to act to prevent the breach from causing further damage by plugging the gap in any way it could.
They said that once the lorry had been dropped into the breach, they had managed to then put more rocks on the sides and stop the flow of floodwater to a trickle.
According to a Luojiang Town Government employee, the breakfast became visible early on July 2. On the same day, to reduce the damage and stop it from widening, about 90 firefighters from the Hunan Provincial Fire Brigade, together with a dozen technicians and local leaders, were drafted in to try to plug the gap.
On the evening of the same day, the dam break was successfully sealed off using the lorry.
