STORYLINE:
Various Spanish experts and officials recently joined an exchange event between Liangzhu and Spain's Toledo. The event was held in Hangzhou's Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, in commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the inscription of Liangzhu onto the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019.
During the journey, the Spanish visitors admired the 5,000-year-old Liangzhu ruins and their protection and conservation methods with remote sensing and AI. They also visited the Liangzhu Museum, which displays numerous archaeological relics of Liangzhu.
As part of the event, a photo exhibition of Toledo, a Spanish province and home to another UNESCO World Heritage Site, is being held at the Liangzhu Museum. The exhibition features about 100 photos of historic heritages in Toledo.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): SUSANA ALCALDE, Deputy director general of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain
"It's really interesting the introduction of AI to the protection and conservation of the cultural heritage. For me, it's really interesting. And then it's really interesting, too, the recreations in the museums for giving diffusion and giving dissemination of the different traditional crafts or the traditional society ... different roles of the society. And it's really interesting -- the archaeological park with the recreation of the museum, it's a really interesting couple for improving the conservation and knowledge of that ancient culture. For me, it's a really great experience. And I would like to maintain the relationship with the specialists of culture in China with Spain. I would like to invite the different techniques (I saw) during this trip for our work in Spain."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): MARIO GOMEZ, Press officer from Toledo, Spain
"I think that Toledo and China's Hangzhou have got a lot of similar things -- cultural things, monuments, traditions, ancient things ... This is a very special moment today that we are here now in Liangzhu and look that a little bit part of Toledo is in here for all the people who want to come here and look at them."
