190 years ago, "mad Jack Fuller" 1757-1834) was interned in a pyramid he had built for himself in the village graveyard where he was squire. A member of Parliament for two constituencies, he was a noted drunk and involved in an incident with the Speaker of Parliament. His philanthropic offering included buying Eastbourne its first lifeboat, building the Belle Tout lighthouse at Beachy Head and buying Bodium Castle to save it from destruction. The local vicar allowed Fuller to build the pyramid in preparation for his burial if he stopped locals arriving from the pub in front of the church drunk. He bought the pub, closed in down, and built another a few miles away. Brightling graveyard, East Sussex, UK
