A woman drunkenly rescued a seagull on a night out - after the bird got stuck in a bus stop.

Good Samaritan Sinead Murphy, 21, managed to wing it and free the entangled bird in the early hours of the morning on June 15.

The mum-of-one spotted the trapped gull while on the way home from a night out in Torquay, Devon, at 3am.

It had its leg stuck between the bus stop's metal panels and was unable to escape - so Sinead leapt into action and used her hands to free it before it flew off.

Sinead, a full time mum, said: "I just walked past it but then saw it out of the corner of my eye. "

"I was pretty drunk, and I hate birds, so I was probably the worst person to be dealing with it at the time. "

"I tried to help it, I'm glad I got there in the end!"

Sinead said she rarely goes out.

She added: "It's quite funny the one time I go out this happens, I'm glad I could help it - even in such an amusing way."
