India: Massive Landslide Blocks Key Highway to Badrinath in Northern India
Joshimath, India - July 09, 2024
A massive landslide occurred on the Badrinath National Highway, just one kilometer before Joshimath, in Northern Indian district Uttarakhand on Tuesday at 10 AM (July 9, 2024). The landslide caused an entire mountain to collapse onto the highway, completely blocking the route. The road has not yet been cleared. The landslide was so severe that a large portion of the mountain came crashing down onto the road, causing significant damage to the highway itself. Consequently, the route remains entirely closed.
