STORYLINE:

A group of 20 international students from China University of Petroleum (Beijing) recently visited the oil-rich city of Karamay in China's Xinjiang.

The students came from various countries, such as Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Ghana.

During the four-day trip, the group visited oil and gas production areas in Karamay, experienced ethnic culture, and savored local snacks.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): MUHAMMAD APRI YANSYAH, Indonesian student from China University of Petroleum (Beijing)
"My Chinese name is Pu Li. My first stop in Karamay was the Baili Oilfield (100-kilometer-long oilfield). I was deeply impressed by such a huge oilfield, which can't be seen in my country. Before coming to Karamay, I learned that Karamay is a city that was born and thrived because of oil. I think it is an outstanding feat to extract oil and build a city in such an environment."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): ASHYROV AGAMAMMET, Turkmen student from China University of Petroleum (Beijing)
"Hello, everyone. My Chinese name is An Guoming. I dressed in ancient Chinese outfits and took photos with my friends. Wearing these clothes makes me feel like being an ancient Chinese, enabling me to experience Chinese culture. I think Xinjiang music is especially suitable for dancing, and it is really joyous to dance with friends."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): ANNAMYRADOVA LEYLI, Turkmen student from China University of Petroleum (Beijing)
"I ate Xinjiang's roasted buns here and I love it. I drank chamomile tea in Xiaoguaixiang Township. I also drink this kind of tea in my country, so it makes me feel like being home."

SOUNDBITE 4 (Chinese): MAI THU PHUONG, Vietnamese student from China University of Petroleum (Beijing)
"I learned to play Chinese musical instruments from my teacher. She was very friendly and taught me to play a song."
