STORYLINE:

The Shelek Wind Farm in Kazakhstan's Almaty region is a cooperation project of China and Kazakhstan under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Completed two years ago, the wind farm provides clean electricity for local users.

"The average wind speed here is approximately 6.5 to 6.7 meters per second. For instance, during the full-capacity operation year of 2023, the wind farm generated 225.6 million kWh of electricity with an equipment availability rate of 99.6%."

As of May 31, 2024, the project has cumulatively generated 425 million kWh of electricity.

The project also provides job opportunities for local people and plays an important role in improving Kazakhstan's power production structure.
