In a remarkable display of dedication and teamwork, forest staff, along with volunteers and helpers in northeastern India's Assam, successfully distributed essential relief items and medicines to flood-affected areas of Kaziranga National Park.

The operation took place at Mihimukh, Kohora of Kaziranga National Park on July 10.

Visuals showed the distribution event began at 10 AM, with forest frontline workers and volunteers navigating the inundated areas on live boats, equipped with life jackets and using ropes for safety and stability. Despite the challenging conditions, they ensured that crucial supplies reached the over 200 anti-poaching camps that had been cut off due to severe flooding.

Speaking to Newslions, the Director of Kaziranga National Park, Sonali Ghosh mentioned, that this relief effort was significantly supported by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and the coordinated assistance of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). These teams played a vital role in making sure the forest staff could carry out their mission to provide the essential items, including medicines and rations, to their fellow workers.

The brave forest personnel stationed at these camps continue their essential work of protecting Kaziranga’s wildlife, including the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, despite the adverse conditions brought by the monsoon season. The successful distribution of supplies is a testament to their unwavering commitment and the strong support network of various organizations and volunteers.

Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Assam, relies heavily on the dedication of its staff to safeguard its rich biodiversity. This relief operation highlights the collective effort to ensure that those protecting the park's invaluable natural heritage are well-supported, even in the face of natural disasters.
