STORYLINE:

An exhibition themed around ancient Greece opened on Wednesday in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province. 

The exhibition, titled "Gazing Toward Olympus: The Ideal Life of the Ancient Greeks," features over 100 ancient Greek cultural relics from the Naples National Archaeological Museum in Italy.

Hosted at the Anhui Museum, the exhibition also presents exquisite cultural relics from ancient China, forging a bridge that connects the civilizations of Greece and China.

"As you can see, we are able to see the yard marble pieces, some tall statues more than two meters high, and vessel ceramics with a lot of histories, ceremonies, myths, religion and so on. And the bronzes and arms, which are very important for the life of every citizen in Greece. And we hope these items collected all together are able to transmit our culture.
We have in the exhibition that contains mainly Greek artworks, also some artworks from the Anhui Museum from the Han Dynasty (202 BC-25 AD). So we can compare, we are able to see them together."

"We are very honored to work with Naples National Archaeological Museum, Italy, to organize this exhibition.
There are a total of 123 pieces (sets) of exhibits from Italy. Many of the exhibits had never been displayed in Anhui before.
Both as ancient civilizations, the civilizations of Greece and China have a relationship of mutual enhancement. Therefore, we selected this exhibition theme and brought cultural relics from overseas to China for display, offering the audience an opportunity to explore aspects of ancient Western civilizations, distinct from our own."
