In the run-up to the Copa America semi-final with Canada at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Argentina fans once again filled New York's legendary Times Square, the famous Manhattan landmark packed with giant screens and tourists, located at the intersection of the blocks between Sixth and Eighth Avenues.
Fewer than a fortnight ago, when the national team played against Chile, some 2,000 fans gathered there, wearing blue and white. But, in addition, there were also shirts of Velez, Lanus, Boca, River, among the most important teams of Argentine football.
Unlike that time, when the local police appeared 10 minutes later to control and avoid problematic situations, which there were none, on this occasion the area was fenced off from the start and with a large police presence. One, two, three, four blocks, the place slowly turned into a blue and white tide.
