Kind neighbours rushed to the fifth floor of a home to put out a fire spreading through a family's property.

A cigarette butt was reignited by winds on the top floor of the building and burned through a cardboard box before it quickly spread in Cavite, Philippines, on July 7.

CCTV footage shows Good Samaritans climbing the property to reach the site of the blaze.

The flames had engulfed a large portion of the area but they were doused by a fire extinguisher.

House owner Ali Hajie said: ‘Our neighbours called us saying there was a fire in our home. Everything happened so quickly but we were relieved we were able to control the fire in time.'

Ali added no one was hurt by the fire although his home was damaged.

He said: ‘I was outside and the others were downstairs. Fortunately, the neighbours saw what was happening and informed us.'
