STORYLINE:

The China (Shandong)-Kenya Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference took place Wednesday in Nairobi, Kenya's capital, calling for enhanced commercial ties to achieve mutual benefits.
   
The four-day conference was held alongside the East Africa (Kenya) Life Show & International Small Commodities Expo which showcases African and Chinese designer wear.
   
Among the conveners of the conference were the Kenya Investment Authority, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Kenya Chinese Chamber of Commerce (Shandong).
   
Forty Chinese business representatives and over 100 counterparts from Kenya attended the conference that culminates in on-site business matching and discussions on deepening cooperation, said Gao Wei, managing director of Afripeak Expo Kenya.
   
Investors from Shandong Province participating in the expo represented diverse sectors, including agricultural machinery, new energy, power equipment, building materials, textiles, and apparel, Gao said.
   
Pius Rotich, general manager of Investment Promotion and Business Development at the Kenya Investment Authority, said that forging lasting partnerships with Chinese enterprises will drive growth, job creation, and connectivity.
   
Kennedy Onditi, the Nyanza regional director of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that local enterprises are keen to adopt technology, innovation, and best practices from Shandong Province to enhance their competitiveness.
