Police caught a boa constrictor snake found on the back seat of a ride car in Minnesota.

Officers from the Minneapolis Police Department's fifth precinct responded when a driver called saying he found a snake believed to have been left by one of his passengers in his vehicle.

Footage shows an officer handling the serpent after extracting it from the car. A delighted officer said: ‘Oh, look at the snake.'

Authorities contacted the snake's owner but were unable to reach the person, so they turned over the constrictor to Animal Control instead.

The snake was unharmed and would stay at the facility. No one was also hurt, including the driver.

Boa constrictors ambush and grab their prey, wrapping their body around it and tightening their coils. The constriction prevents the prey from breathing and disrupts blood flow, leading to rapid death from a combination of suffocation and circulatory failure.
