Heroic villagers save motorist after out-of-control car plunges into reservoir in China
Passing villagers rescued a motorist after he accidentally drove into a reservoir in China.
The video was filmed in Xiangtan City in Hunan Province on July 8.
The motorist lost control of his car at a bend, causing it to slide into the deep reservoir.
The driver quickly rolled down the window and climbed onto the roof of the sinking vehicle, clinging on as he awaited rescue. Shortly after he climbed on top, the car sank beneath the water.
Several villagers happened to witness the dramatic scene and wasted no time springing into action. A man, despite not being a strong swimmer, plunged into the water without hesitation. He frantically searched for a rescue tool and found a wooden stick, which he cleverly threw to the stranded driver, providing a lifeline.
More villagers soon joined the rescue operation. Some entered the water to assist directly, while others stayed on shore to keep the driver calm and coordinate a more effective rescue strategy. Through their combined efforts, the driver was eventually pulled to safety.
It was later confirmed that the driver was alone in the car and, thanks to the prompt rescue, he suffered no major injuries.
