A woman was shocked when her courtyard filled up with floodwater reaching two-feet high in just seven minutes.

Kaya Corbridge, 27, was enjoying an afternoon nap on Tuesday (July 9) when her mother woke her up by shouting "There's a flood. The courtyard is flooding!"."

Kaya jumped up to look out of her bedroom window and saw the courtyard brimming with gushing water.

The flood had broken through the bolted gates and into the courtyard.

Dramatic video shows the force of the water carrying away the metal, outdoor furniture with the table's glass pane having been completely dislodged.

Kaya, a fashion designer from Clitheroe, Ribble Valley, Lancashire, said: "It was taking out some really heavy stuff."

"Like the iron-cast table and chairs that is our courtyard furniture was fully swept up."

"It moved or broke these massive concrete pots that we have and lifted tarmac up from the ground."

"The road near us is now covered in loose gravel and tarmac so someone could easily pop a tire."

The force and speed of flood really took Kaya by surprise with water reaching thigh height at its peak.

Kaya said: "It all just happened so quickly that we didn't know what to do at first."

"It only took seven minutes for the entire courtyard to become a whirlpool of water rushing through it."

The flood also managed to get through Kaya's shed door, completely ruining the interior.

But luckily, the main house was not severely damaged, aside from some leaking and damp floors.

She said: "The shed's a gonner at this point."

"It's a pretty tall shed at about 7ft and the water managed to knock items off the very top shelves."

"The inside is just completely ruined."

"Once the rain had stopped, the water took about an hour and half to fully leave the courtyard."

Kaya has been in touch with her local council so they can fix some of the structural damage to the road.
