USA: Griffith Park and Southern Railroad Fire

07/12/2024 02:12 am (GMT-0700) | GRIFFITH PARK, LOS ANGELES – LAFD responded to a rubbish fire in Griffith Park Friday morning at the Griffith Park & Southern Railroad located at 4400 N Crystal Springs Dr. Firefighters discovered an out building behind the main station fully involved in fire. Firefighters requested additional personnel to respond due to an issue with water supply at the location. A "water shuttle" was established to help crews extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Per their website:
"Our miniature railroads carry nearly 500,000 passengers each year. Weather permitting, we operate 364 days a year, closing on Christmas Day only."
"The Griffith Park & Southern Railroad first opened for business in 1948. It has operated continuously, except for a few years in the 1950s, ever since."
