01:55 hrs. Dramatic House fire reaches 2nd Alarm with R.I.T. Activated when the 2nd floor collapsed


01:55 hrs. Northumberland County Communications Center dispatched a working structure fire at 137 West 7th Street, Mount Carmel Borough.
The resident evacuated the structure prior to the Fire Departments arrival.
At approximately 02:45 hrs. the 2nd floor partially collapsed trapping a Clover Hose Fire Fighter’s. FF Janolek transmitted a MayDay and R.I.T. (Rapid Intervention team) sprung into action as other FF in the structure worked to free the FF. The FF eventually exited the structure with only minimal assistance. The FF was then turned over to EMS with no additional information available at this time.

A second incident happened when a FF had to retreat from Ladder 2 while attempting to vent the structure due to the FF failure to wear an airpack and being properly dressed in PPE.

This fire eventually spread to a neighboring structure prior to being brought under control.
