Saticoy, United States - July 12, 2024

On July 12, firefighters responded swiftly to a large rubbish fire in the 1900 block of Lirio Ave in Saticoy, where a pile of crushed cars caught fire, threatening nearby structures. The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) deployed approximately 65 firefighters to the scene, who worked defensively to contain and extinguish the flames.

Using aerial ladders capable of delivering between 750 to 1250 gallons per minute, firefighters focused on preventing the fire's spread and protecting surrounding properties. Drone 11, a new technology employed by VCFD, provided essential aerial footage to assess the situation and guide resource allocation effectively.

Collaborating closely with heavy equipment operators from the property owner, firefighters delayered the burning car pile to expedite the extinguishing process. Although the fire is now contained within its origin, crews remain vigilant to prevent any potential re-ignition.
