This is the horrific moment a wild monkey lunged at a woman and bit her leg in a car park in India.

The resident was wearing a backpack and heading to work when the primate jumped her while she was alone walking past the vehicles in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on July 11.

CCTV footage shows the langur attacking the woman who fell to the ground as she kicked her leg free before the animal scampered. The woman was hospitalised to have her wounds checked.

She was only one of the 25 people recently attacked by monkeys in the area, including eight children in the Indian state. Affected areas include Suryam Elegance, Shridhar Heaven, Shridhar Paradise, Shridhar Sparsh, and Shridhar Star in Vastral City.

Local wildlife authorities, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), said ‘they have now mobilised teams to catch the aggressive monkeys'.

The board added: 'The langur monkey bit the woman multiple times. She has also received rabies shots and stitches for her wound.'

Forest officials have caught three monkeys so far that were connected to previous attacks.
