Tourists rescued from floods amidst heavy rainfall in western India

In a recent incident, stranded tourists were rescued from flooding during heavy rainfall in western India's Maharashtra.

The incident took place at Anjaneri in Nashik district on July 14.

Visuals showed tourists stranded in floods amidst heavy rains, where forest department officials formed a human chain to rescue them. The video captured the dramatic efforts as officials worked tirelessly to ensure the tourists' safety amid the challenging weather conditions.

Speaking to Newslions, Vrushali Gade, Range Forest Officer of Nashik Range, Maharashtra, stated that tourists enjoying the rain at Anjaneri waterfall were suddenly trapped when heavy rain began. The forest department team promptly arrived on the scene and, after about 6 hours of strenuous effort, successfully rescued all the tourists.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in many parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa on Monday and Tuesday. Heavy rains are expected in many parts of Karnataka and Kerala on Monday. Monsoon is expected to remain active over central India during the next four to five days.

The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa till Tuesday. Apart from this, the department has issued an orange alert for Marathwada and Vidarbha in Maharashtra.
