In a commendable rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard Ship Kamla Devi successfully saved two Olive Ridley turtles entangled in ghost nets in eastern India’s West Bengal.

The incident took place approximately 35 nautical miles southeast off the coast in West Bengal on July 13.

Visuals showed how the rescuers caught the turtles from water and then safely entangled them and then released them back in the waters.

According to reports, the turtles, a mother and her offspring, were found struggling in discarded fishing nets during a routine patrol in the Bay of Bengal.

The crew of ICGS Kamla Devi acted swiftly, cutting away the nets and ensuring the safe release of the endangered turtles back into the sea. This rescue highlights the Indian Coast Guard's dedication to marine conservation and the protection of vulnerable wildlife species.
