Motorists were fortunate to escape unharmed as a landslide pushed a car off a cliff in southwestern China.

The alarming video was recorded in Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province on July 14. A car was swept off a cliff by a collapsed mountainside.

Luckily, all four passengers inside managed to escape without injury.

The road became impassable due to the landslide, with witnesses describing a car queued up and moving slowly through the affected area.

Suddenly, the landslide hit, burying the road in earth and trapping the vehicle. Confronted with immediate danger, the four passengers acted swiftly: two climbed out through the sunroof while the other two escaped through the windows, just moments before their car was pushed off the cliff.

Reports indicate they had exited the vehicle about 20 minutes before the landslide intensified and caused the car to tumble down the cliff, disappearing.

In response to the incident, local authorities and emergency response teams quickly mobilised to the scene to manage the situation.

Preliminary investigations attributed the cause of the accident to the complex local geological conditions worsened by recent heavy rainfall.
