STORYLINE:
The Basketball Artist School (BAS) established by German basketball expert Frank Albin has empowered many youngsters from the Katutura township in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, through sports.
Malakia Mathias, manager of the BAS, said the non-profit after-school program combines basketball with education to teach life skills and empower them.
The BAS provides aftercare, tutorials in math and English, computer literacy classes, and basketball coaching. The school gained momentum and established its facility in Katutura in 2015.

"What challenges they are experiencing, such as social, drug issues, teenage pregnancies, and you can name them all, alcoholism and so forth in the community that we are in Katutura. So, we try to support the kids by providing a platform where, first of all, there is no division in terms of standards."
Since its inception, the BAS has positively impacted the lives of over 900 youngsters.
