The massive forest and land fires in Indonesia continue to spread until they have now reached approximately 300 hectares.
Forest and land fires that occur in North Sumatra, Indonesia, continue to spread. Currently it is reported that up to 300 hectares have been burned.
Firefighters and volunteers continue to extinguish the fire that is burning the forest and land until now, Tuesday 16 July 2024.
Now the forest fires have covered areas in three villages, namely Turpuk Limbong village in Harian sub-district, Boho village and Sipitudai in Sianjur Mula-mula sub-district.
Currently, Joint Officers are still trying to put out fires around the burning foothills so that they do not enter the village area.
Head of the Climate Change Control Section for the Sumatra Region, Syamsudin, said that the extinguishing process continues to be carried out by a joint team at the fire location. Obstacles Faced by Officers, Location of Fire is Steep. So that it cannot be reached as a whole and endangers the safety of officers.
"Information from friends in the field has reached 300 hectares. The obstacle to blackout is the high and steep slopes on the side of the hill, we cannot reach the top. We are afraid that something will endanger our friends in the field," said Syamsudin.
Syamsudin also explained that his party, together with related stakeholders, had carried out fire prevention as early as possible, by carrying out preventive actions, preventive patrols and integrated patrols.
"There are several factors in the fire. However, 99% (percent) of it is human activity. We cannot yet assess whether it is tourist activity, fishing, throwing away cigarette butts or people burning rubbish, causing fires to start on new land or new crops for their livestock," explained Syamsudin.
It is known that this large fire burning forests and land has occurred since Sunday 14 July 2024, until now.
