STORYLINE:
American and Chinese youth exchanged ideas on green industry, historical culture, and rural revitalization during the recent "2024 China-U.S. Youth SDG Study Tour Suzhou Exchange Event" in east China's Jiangsu Province.
Participants visited the Suzhou Museum, where they learned about the long history and culture of Suzhou through its cultural relics and handicraft.
American youth painted lacquer fans, tried on Hanfu, and visited the Pingjiang Road historical and cultural block to experience traditional Chinese culture.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): TSEHAI BOUCAUD, Chief information officer of Infogito
"I really like it. I have never seen a style of art like this before, but I knew that I wanted to do a lot of purple. And I especially like that you can see on the edge of the fan that the color sort of continues. Everything that I have learned to do in Chinese culture, I feel like, is often very old and (they are) very smart traditions. And I am always surprised by how beautiful the art can be."
Participants also visited zero-carbon villages and zero-carbon logistics parks to experience a green and intelligent way of production and life.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): NAYAH MESCI BOUCAUD, Founder & CEO of Infogito
"(This is) one of the best things we've ever seen, and we're an AI company in China and in the U.S. Because this specific trip is focused on energy, there is so much that can be done to integrate a smart system or an AI-oriented system."
The event is part of the "Bridge of the Future" China-U.S. Youth Exchange Program, which aims to promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and American youth.
