USA: Mirage Hotel and Casino Permanently Closes Its Doors
Los Angeles, United States - July 17, 2024
07/17/2024 12:00 am (GMT-0700) | Las Vegas – The iconic Mirage Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip has closed its doors for the final time, marking the end of an era in the city known for its vibrant nightlife and entertainment.
The resort, known for its tropical-themed architecture, dolphin habitat, and volcano attraction, first opened in 1989 and quickly became a landmark in the Las Vegas hospitality scene. Owned by MGM Resorts International, the Mirage was renowned for its innovative entertainment offerings, including the Cirque du Soleil show "Love" and headline performances by legendary artists such as Siegfried & Roy.
"The Mirage has been a beloved destination for guests from around the world for over three decades," said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO and President of MGM Resorts International. "We are grateful to the employees who have made the Mirage synonymous with Las Vegas hospitality and entertainment."
The closure of the Mirage leaves a significant void on the Las Vegas Strip, where it had been a prominent fixture for more than 30 years. However, plans are already underway for the transformation of the property. Hard Rock Hotel, known for its music-themed resorts worldwide, is slated to replace the Mirage. The rebranding is expected to bring a fresh, music-infused vibe to the iconic location.
As the city looks to the future, the closure of the Mirage marks the end of an era in Las Vegas entertainment and hospitality, leaving many to reflect on its impact on the city's cultural landscape.
