USA: Son of Smoke Shop Owner Shot Dead Inside Store in Lancaster

07/16/2024 03:30 pm (GMT-0700) | LANCASTER, Calif. – Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Lancaster Station responded to a call for service at a local business in the 1400 block of West Avenue I in the city of Lancaster. The caller stated that a robbery was in progress and at least one person was down with unknown injuries. Upon arrival, deputies located a male adult suffering from at least one gunshot wound as a result of the reported robbery attempt. When Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived on scene, they immediately pronounced the male deceased. The male has not been identified by name, but it was confirmed by his father and business owner that it was his son who had just relieved his mother from that same store 15 minutes prior to this incident. Homicide investigators are on the way to this location, no further details are available.

Los Angeles County Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the death of a male adult at the location.
Two male Black adults entered the store and were involved in a fight with the victim, during which time one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and shot the victim. The suspects were last seen fleeing the location on foot.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
