Shizuishan, China - July 17, 2024

A harrowing incident unfolded in Shizuishan, Ningxia on July 4, 2024, when a 12-year-old boy narrowly escaped being crushed by a heavy-duty semi-trailer truck. The driver, identified as Ma, was traveling along Provincial Road 302 when he approached a zebra crossing at a community intersection. Instead of slowing down, Ma proceeded to run a red light.

At that moment, young Su, riding an electric bicycle on Ma's right side, was preparing to cross the intersection. Without warning, Su was forced to abruptly stop and fell to the ground, while his bicycle slid under the semi-trailer and was crushed. Miraculously, Su escaped serious injury despite the dramatic scene.

Following investigation, traffic police determined that Ma's disregard for the red light constituted the primary cause of the accident, while Su, being under the legal age of 16 for electric bicycle operation, bore secondary responsibility.
