On July 7, 2024, in Changzhou, Jiangsu, eastern China, a heartwarming moment was captured by a CCTV of a mother cat Heijing teaching her kitten Little Pumpkin how to climb a tree.

Heijing tried to teach her kitten survival skills from midnight until dawn.

By sunrise, Little Pumpkin finally gathered the courage to jump up the tree like its mother tentatively. Although it failed and tumbled down, it followed its mother’s lead and began a new round of attempts.

After reviewing the surveillance footage, the cat's owner Ms. Shao discovered that the patient mother cat repeatedly demonstrated how to jump up the tree, guiding her kitten dozens of times.

Ms. Shao said Heijing, the stray she adopted, gave birth to eight kittens. After giving birth, she took excellent care of Heijing and her kittens, and they all grew plump. Good families adopted the other seven kittens, but she kept the one that resembled its mother the most; her son named it Little Pumpkin.
