A massive amount of mud and trees tumbled down the side of a field in central China.

The dramatic video was filmed in Zigui County in Hubei Province on July 17.

The landslide, estimated at 800,000 cubic metres in volume, moved downhill into the ravine below, significantly impacting local infrastructure and agricultural production.

Thankfully, due to early warnings, no casualties were reported.

According to local villagers, before the landslide occurred, some villagers noticed the road surface of Wugao Road was bulging. They immediately alerted four villagers who were working in the nearby fields to evacuate and swiftly reported the incident to the village committee.

Upon receiving the report, the local government promptly activated emergency response plans, implemented traffic controls at the scene, closed off the area, and established a restricted zone to prevent unauthorised access.

The landslide caused damage to a 1200-metre village-level road (Wugao Road) and 4 hectares of citrus orchards, severely affecting local residents' transportation and agricultural production.

Fortunately, as there were no residents living in the landslide area and the timely evacuation of the four villagers who were working in the fields, no casualties were reported.

Experts from the Provincial Department of Natural Resources who conducted an on-site investigation concluded that the landslide was mainly triggered by heavy rainfall in the preceding period.
