At a service station in Nanwenying community in Xiong'an New Area, elderly residents gather together and enjoy a vibrant and fulfilling life.

"I am a resident in Nanwenying community. I am 72 years old. This station here is bustling every day with so many people playing billiards, dancing, singing, and practicing calligraphy. They frequent here both in the morning and afternoon. We feel a strong sense of happiness."

Given China's aging population, ensuring that the elderly are well-cared for, and able to enjoy their later years close to home has become a major focus for many communities.

Nanwenying has established a "15-minute living circle," which better accommodates the needs of seniors.

"Nanwenying community is a typical resettlement community in Rongdong district. Over 3,400 households and more than 7,800 residents have been relocated here since 2021. There is also a community canteen tailored for seniors with affordable prices, offering a 25% discount for those aged 60 and above, a 50% discount for those aged 70 and above, and a 75% discount for those aged 80 and above."

Next, the Nanwenying community will actively organize lectures and activities for our elderly residents, aiming to continuously enrich their daily cultural lives. This effort truly enables the elderly people to transition from 'being cared for' to 'enjoying their senior years.'"
