Doting mother makes Jeepney-themed grave for her late son
A doting mother made a Jeepney-themed grave for her late son.
Nida Villarte, 38, lost her six-year-old son Aries from sepsis last month but to lovingly honour his memory, she designed his tomb with his favourite blue vehicle, a form of passenger bus.
Footage shows Nida painting Aries' resting place with a vibrant blue colour in Cebu province, the Philippines on July 12.
She said she did it so it would resemble the jeepney that the boy used to see driving around their neighbourhood.
She said: ‘Blue 10F jeep was his favourite jeep because blue was his favourite colour.'
Mother Nida was helped by her husband Jonathan, 37, and a local artist Wyndelle Remonde.
She said: ‘I really owe him big time for helping me with this.'
Nida said in dedication to his son: ‘Ever since Aries left me, it's been so hard to get along. I still haven't adjusted to the fact that I no longer talk to you before you sleep, at the same time as I pray, and I no longer have Aries to sleep in my arms.'
A jeepney is a popular mode of public transportation in the Philippines. These colourful vehicles are known for their unique and artistic designs, often decorated with vibrant paintings, religious icons, and various ornaments.
They originated from the military jeeps left by the U.S. forces after World War II and were modified and adapted to accommodate more passengers.
