In a heart-stopping rescue amidst unprecedented floods, a courageous trio risked their lives to keep a pregnant woman afloat for over three hours until rescuers finally reached them.

The harrowing incident unfolded after Pingjiang County experienced record-breaking rainfall on July 1st, inundating city streets under eight feet of water and leaving residents stranded.

Liu Jun, a seasoned member of the Yueyang Blue Sky Rescue Team, recounted the dramatic rescue effort: "Arriving at Chengguan Town's Dong Street, we were met with chaotic scenes – narrow alleys flanked by towering buildings on the brink of collapse."

Amid shouts for help, Liu and his team followed desperate gestures leading them to a building where three men and a young pregnant woman clung desperately to a bed sheet dangling from a window.

"They were trapped by rising waters, their makeshift lifeline barely holding," Liu described. "The pregnant woman, visibly struggling, was supported by the men amidst the flood."

Risking his own safety, Liu plunged into the treacherous waters, submerging himself to reach the woman whose condition was deteriorating rapidly from hypothermia.

"I didn't anticipate the depth," Liu recalled, "but I found her, barely conscious. With every ounce of strength, I swam her back to safety."

Miraculously, all were rescued, the woman and her brave guardians pulled from the brink of disaster. The grateful husband conveyed their immense relief, acknowledging the near-impossible odds they faced.

Reflecting on the heroic efforts witnessed, Liu expressed profound admiration: "Their resilience in the face of such perilous conditions is nothing short of extraordinary. It's moments like these that define true heroism."
