Flames shot out from sewer openings as the underground gas pipeline leaked in southern China.

Video filmed in Huizhou City in Guangdong Province on July 18 shows flames shooting out from several sewer openings, reaching heights of over a metre.

Upon receiving the emergency call, the Huizhou Fire and Rescue Brigade's Huiyang unit quickly arrived on the scene to carry out rescue operations.

Simultaneously, the gas company urgently shut off the leaking pipeline valve, effectively controlling the fire and extinguishing the visible flames.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by drilling through the underground gas pipeline during roadbed exploration, leading to the gas leak and subsequent ignition.
